A Hand Full of Stars

Feature Film, Germany, 2020

Damascus, 1969: In the narrow alleys of the old town lives Sami, the baker's son. He and his friends Mahmud and Josef have a gang: The Black Hand. By way of flyers and graffiti they fight for justice: against the local secret service agent, against a fraudulent fruitseller, against child labor.
When his father is arrested and tortured for no reason, Sami recognizes that – under the tyrannical regime – his writing talent must serve for something greater: He wants to become a journalist!
With much courage, ingenuity and the charming naivety of a teenager he defies danger and keeps his eyes on the target. Sami, his friends and former journalist Habib publish the first free underground newspaper: the Sock-Newspaper ! – It doesn't take long before the secret service is hard on their heels...
